Week 3 | Post Trial

[ Man she is not. Sure even what to say to Connor when she spots him - wherever he's at. But she'd rather be social than not, so she approaches--! ]

Good job, today.

[ at least she sounds sincere, despite the general disaster that trial was....... ]

[Madoka is good, and Connor appreciates the attempt to be polite. Still, he shakes his head.]

... Thank you. Though I wouldn't describe my performance today as "good."

Everyone did their best. As long as you did your best, you did good.

[ Even if it wasn't... Enough. ]

T-the situations are so weird that no one can be blamed for not getting it perfect.

Is our best truly good enough?

[Because doing his "best" and still failing is grounds for getting scrapped back in Detroit, but... He understand she's trying to be optimistic. Kind of.]

I suppose... we're lucky that everyone's revival is guaranteed at the end. Fortune, Julius, and the others deserve better than what this competition has given them.

No one is perfect, especially in hard times.

Everyone deserved better... I really wish they had been able to set up a different kind of contest.

So do I. Unfortunately, it was Patience's vote that thrust us into this kind of competition. There's nothing we can do to change that now.

Patience was the tie-breaker, but six other gods voted for this. I'm upset with Patience, but the are multiple people at fault.

N-not that it changes the situation, though... You're right...

Week 4 | Post Trial

[ Probably a good two hours or so after the trial, Madoka meanders into the game room. Mostly she's just looking for somewhere quiet to decompress, but she doesn't mind the company. When she spots Connor, she approaches him pretty easily. ]

I think that went a little better than last week... He said it like it was a bad thing on our part, but I think it's a success if we get a confession...

[Hi, Madoka. Connor seemed like he was considering the room's board game collection pretty intensely, but he looks up when approached.]

It's better to disregard everything he said toward the end. We cast our vote for one of three guilty parties. That's a success... even if we still failed to identify the remaining two.

[ she steps up beside him to see what he's looking at. ]

Mm. It's scary not knowing who the others are, though...

[Classical board games, mostly! Probably like Risk, Monopoly, Sorry, Scrabble, etc. The whole "classical board game" Google search library, tbh.]

... I agree. It's far from ideal. And there were still many unsolved mysteries when Ray revealed Newt's lie to us.

Whoever we didn't catch know how hard Ray-kun is working, too. We need to look out for him.

[ although in her mind that's just stating the obvious. after a pause, she nods up at the games. ]

Would you like to play something? It might be a nice distraction...

We do. Ray has been a great help to us during the trials. It's important that we keep him alive.

[This would be the place to ask who the heckie would stab a 12-year-old, but... Pours one out for Bart.]

I wouldn't mind a distraction. [The trial was A Lot.] Do you have a preference for any of the games in this room?

Week 5 | Tuesday Afternoon

[Here's to hoping Madoka isn't too busy, because the last surviving member of the roomba population will be approaching her once he spots her by the shrine! Polite as always, he inclines his head in greeting once he catches her gaze.]

Good afternoon. [What's up.] Have you enjoyed our new accommodations so far?

[Because this is like, very nice compared to the hell they were subjected to last week. Thanks Cunning and Ruin??]

[ She looks up and gives her own nod and smile in return. He's always so polite, and it doesn't really occur to her that it might be partially because of the whole robot thing, so she's just plain charmed by this nice young man!!! ]

Yes, this week has been really nice. Inaba is kind of old fashioned... [ compared to Mitakihara, where she's from. ] But it's nice being in Japan. It's like being home for a little.

Yes... That seems to be a common sentiment among those who originate from Japan. [Yu's nostalgic, Senri's living his best life...] I imagine it must be comforting to see something reminiscent of your home after being away for so long.

[It sure has been five weeks, huh.]

I've seen a lot of other places, but only for brief moments. Even shorter than the weeks we spend, here. So it's nice to see something more familiar.

[ but, hm, she actually knows very little about Connor! ] Where are you from?

I was deployed in Detroit, Michigan. This competition marks the first time I've seen so many distinct places — though I'm aware they aren't "real."

[In the end, the wings always turn out to be akin to small scale replicas of something the gods are personally fond of. They can only explore up to a certain point each and every time.]

It must be [...] interesting to have the opportunity to travel, however, even if the time spent in each location is brief.

It seems like they're based on real places, though. I think it still counts!

[ Madoka nods. ] It's really interesting. I get to see all kinds of places I never would have seen - places in the past and the future.

Week 5 | Post Trial

[ god today was. a whole lot, as per usual. but she makes a point to wave Connor over when she's passing by his general whereabouts. wherever those are. i should have asked and DIDN'T BUT TOO LATE. ]

[Madoka will find him on the fourth floor! Lingering, even as he's not actively on guard duty at this hour of the night. His expression is just as blank as it was at the end of the trial, but he at least glances over to Madoka once she approaches him.]

... You're welcome. [Flat. Subdued.] I wish I could have done more, however.

[Guy was caught, but... One more killer got away, and their friends are still dead.]

Me too. I think everyone did such an amazing job... But in the end we still only caught one of them, and only because... [ Luke blabbed. ]
